"Trapped in the Sky" is a televisual adaptation of the audio story Thunderbird 1 (itself an adaptation of the episode Trapped in the Sky), with Scott Tracy as the narrator of the story whilst on duty aboard Thunderbird 5. It was made by Century 21 Films in a similar matter to their Anniversary Episodes project in 2015.
Originally produced for Thunderbirds Day in 2019, the series of three faced similar availability problems to The Anniversary Episodes, only making intermittent reappearances on future Thunderbirds Days. For 2023's celebrations however, the episodes were uploaded to YouTube for a wide release.
Synopsis[]
Scott recalls the events of International Rescue's first ever rescue mission while on his term of duty aboard Thunderbird 5.
Trivia[]
- At the end of the episode, John is seen piloting Thunderbird 3 to take Scott back to Earth.
- Newly shot footage of Scott is superimposed onto scenes set inside Thunderbird 5, and the London International Airport control tower.
- Alan is correctly voiced by Matt Zimmerman.
- As in the audio adaptation, the extended scene of Scott (aboard Thunderbird 1) talking to John (aboard Thunderbird 5) is included, as well as the deleted scene of Virgil (aboard Thunderbird 2) informing Scott of his final approach to London Airport.
- The scene of the Hood taking pictures inside Thunderbird 1's cockpit is corrected in this televisual adaptation; the cockpit was positioned in horizontal flight-mode, whereas in the original episode, it was in vertical take-off mode.
