"The Mountain Station" is the 33rd comic story published in the TV21's Thunderbirds series, originally published as an 8 part adventure between issues 14 and 21 of TV21 & Joe 90.

The story saw the Hood's first and only appearance in the revamped Thunderbirds strip, and his first in TV21 since The Zoo Ship at the start of 1969.

Synopsis[]

International Rescue learn that the Hood is planning to destroy a research station built on top of Mount Everest. Wanting to avert the disaster, the Tracys try to beat their enemy to the mountain. But the scientists at the station are unwilling to evacuate based on suspicion alone, and International Rescue are forced to frantically try and outplay the Hood at his own game, while keeping the scientists inside safe.

Trivia[]

  • John knows who the Hood is well enough to recognise his voice over TB5's radio systems, without prompting. The Tracys also all call him as such.
  • The Hood's hypnotic powers have evolved: he is able to command a group of pilots to carry out work for him.
  • Unusually, Scott takes off vertically from the station. This is even more odd when you consider he landed horizontally.
