Masthead, issue 110

The Funday Times was a pull-out section of the British newspaper The Sunday Times which contained comic strips for children. It ran from 1989 until 2006, and has occasionally returned on an intermittent basis since.

Beginning in October 1991, The Funday Times began publishing brand new, original Thunderbirds comic stories, for the first time since Countdown in 1972. These stories were written by veteran Thunderbirds alumnus Alan Fennell and drawn by newcomer Keith Page.

Second Run[]

The Thunderbirds strip would be replaced by a Stingray strip, which would only last for 28 weeks before Thunderbirds would return to the magazine. This second run of stories would last for over a year, despite only containing three distinct stories, largely owing to the 23 week epic that was the opening fifth story. A new Joe 90 series of stories would eventually replace it in June 1994.
