"The Assassination Threat" (also known as "Kill Lady Penelope") is the tenth Lady Penelope comic story, originally published as an untitled seven-part story between issues 29 and 35 of Lady Penelope.

Beginning where The Great Silver Robbery! had concluded in the previous issue, The Assassination Threat saw Lady Penelope go up against Bereznik agents for the first time since Dangerous Fashion!. Roger Lyon, one of Lady Penelope's agents, would also appear for the first time in the series since Mr. Steelman, although he had appeared elsewhere in the mean-time (notably in the novels Cool For Danger and A Gallery of Thieves).

Michael Strand would take over artistic duties from the usual Frank Langford, who must have been unavailable during the story's production.

Synopsis[]

Roger Lyon uncovers a plot to assassinate the World Government's Defence Minister in Paris, but in doing so alerts the attention of the Bereznik agent carrying out the plan. Lady Penelope picks up his trail, but foiling the assassination is the least of her worries after her true identity is at risk of exposure.

Reprint History[]

The story would first be reprinted in Dutch magazine TV2000 between its issues numbered 11/1967 and 17/1967.

It would, much later, make its way into The New Thunderbirds Comic, where it would be split into two parts: the first (titled The Assassination Threat) was published between issues 77-80, whereas the second (Kill Lady Penelope) found itself in issues 81-83.
