In Lord Parker's 'Oliday, Professor Lungren has developed a solar generator which will, as its first test, power the sleepy Italian town of Monte Bianco from a vantage point on a mountain overlooking the town. Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward and Aloysius Parker are among the invited guests at the hotel to witness this historic event.
Off on Holiday[]
Lady Penelope explains to Parker that this will be his holiday too, and tells him to dress more casually for the trip. Bags packed, they set off for Monte Bianco in FAB 1.
Arrival in the Rain[]
On arriving at the hotel they are met by the manager, Signor Faccini in the pouring rain, he informs them that, "Tonight, we celebrate, in the fancy dress".
The Party in a Storm[]
During the party a violent storm hits the surrounding area. The solar reflector dish is repeatedly struck by lighting and eventually buckles, crashing down the mountainside and lodging half-way, with the reflector pointing directly at the village.
A Great Disaster[]
As predicted by Bruno, the village plunged into darkness as the solar power cuts off, but then, as the storm clears, Monte Bianco is bathed in moonlight reflected by the huge dish. Everyone enjoys the spectacle, but Lady Penelope suddenly realises the potential disaster: as the sun rises in the morning, the sunlight will be magnified and reflected on to the town, which will burn under the intense heat!
Out to Sea in FAB 1[]
The mountains surrounding Monte Bianco block all radio signals, so Lady Penelope takes FAB 1 out to sea to call International Rescue. Passing a Yacht anchored at sea, with a party in full swing aboard, a tipsy gentleman, can't believe his eyes when a pink Rolls Royce driven by Mary Antoinette speeds past on the water.
A Drive to the Solar Station[]
Lady Penelope drives to the Solar Station, where the Professor confirms her fears. The sun will rise at 6.30am, so they have under an hour to hatch a plan.
