Woman Driver's Father[]

There's little point in changing it at this stage, but who on earth looks at these two and thinks they're a married couple?? I'd say they were father and daughter, but even for THAT he seems too old. The girl looks barely 20, whereas he is clearly pushing 60, to put it mildly.

Chris Bentley calls them husband and wife in his book but he's been wrong before. Sigmund 2014 (talk) 08:29, 26 September 2021 (UTC)

I think you're right... Blanche says "She's probably just learning to drive". The "husband's" next few lines could also indicate she's a learner, like "concentrate on what you're doing" and "use the brake". Jack Knoll does call them husband and wife in his blog review too, not that it's a credible source. I don't really like that the page is outright labelled as "woman driver" while we're at it, but not sure of a better title - reckless driver? Making this guy the reckless passenger?
Do you or Welton have a copy of the comic adaptation? Both were written by Fennell so should be pretty faithful to the original - might lend a few clues.

Tracked down a copy of the comic. It's no help at all, but the driver is drawn as noticeably older than her puppet. Interestingly enough the story also refers to Blanche Carter as just Blanch, but I'd put that down to just a mistake as Blanche is a real name.
