2015 Design[]

it says "With this new design it is unknown if it will be explained why it has suddenly changed or if it suppose to be taken as the 'original'." First of all, this sentence barely makes any sense. Second of all, it's pointless. --Sigmund 2014 (talk) 23:34, January 11, 2015 (UTC)

I agree with you, Sigmund (did you take this name from Sigmund Freud, or however you spell it?) It appears to be nonsense. I've seen the new design in trailers on ITV1 (first at my girlfriend's place when she wanted me to watch the last Harry Potter film, and then again when I went to my mate Jeff's place in Dublin, when we were watching James Bond: Diamonds are Forever, and we ranted about the show). I think it seems somewhat inspired by other space stations, such as the ISS or the one we see in James Bond: Moonraker.
And the actual new design isn't good. I certainly prefer 2004 TB5, 2086 TB6 and original TB5 to the new design.

Well, at the end of the day, we all like different things.
de gustibus non est disputandum xD
Actually, I tell a lie. I now think the new TB5 design is pretty damn cool, but I don't really like how it's anti-gravity. I get the producers are making the show seem real, but it's not really my cup of tea.

2004 TB5 seemed the most realistic internally, for me, however the design of 2015 looks better. It's a shame that we didn't see very much of 1965 TB5, though.

Good point, Guyus. TB5-04 is realistic, but seems to be the one room.

Scott Never Mans TB5[]

I posted this on the Scott Tracy talk pages a while ago. Nobody took any notice of course.

"It's often said Scott sometimes crews Thunderbird 5. For example on IMdB (UNI trivia section): "After learning of Scott's crash in Thunderbird, John states "I guess he doesn't have to do his spell of satellite relief until he's fit". Up until this episode (The Uninvited), the only two Tracy brothers to be on duty in Thunderbird 5 were John and Alan." But in reality, this is based on a misunderstanding. What they mean with a "spell of satellite relief" is Scott taking Alan up to the satellite, and not Scott himself 'relieving' John. This is perfectly clear from Jeff's remark at the start of the episode: "as soon as you get back, I want you to take Alan up to the satellite". This is just a few hours earlier on the day. This means that there is no evidence at all to support the idea that Scott sometimes mans the satellite."

I think this is one of those things that we should be milking to the max so more people understand that the TB Wiki is not the only website that has inaccurate information. Sigmund 2014 (talk) 10:10, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Yes I agree, it's baseless. If he did ever do TB5 I guess the dialogue would have said duty or tour instead of relief. I'm spending a lot of time in the "expanded universe"/"legends" ATM and there's nothing that I've found so far that suggests Scott ever mans the satellite - and plenty against it. For instance, the book 1 (Terror from the Stars) starts off with Scott taking Alan to TB5 - Scott asks Alan how he and John don't get bored in space (nothing about himself), and Scott remarks "But a month alone — I like a bit of action, Alan", indicating he couldn't handle being stuck up there.

Ok, I've jumped the gun (as usual!). Scott mans TB5 in Highway to Disaster, an original comic published in The Comic (issues 64-66). John takes over TB1 for the story. It's like Atlantic Inferno where Scott is in charge of the whole org while Jeff is otherwise occupied, but he's doing it from TB5 for some reason.
