fins[]

it says "There are two sets of horizontal stabilising fins: one pair near the front of the fuselage, the other attached to the engines." What's the source for this?

Fins, by definition, are vertical, not horizontal. --Sigmund 2014 (talk) 01:40, July 19, 2015 (UTC)

You can get horizontal stabilising fins.
Fireflash is on the Internet. Look up "Fireflash Thunderbirds" and you'll see a picture of the two fins protruding from the fuselage by the nose cone and the ones protruding from the Atomus engines. User:SniperKing1User talk:SniperKing1 19:34, July 19, 2015 (UTC)
How does that constitute proof? It could just as well be the source or the error.

They're aligned horizontally, doesn't that make them horizontal fins?

Fireflash 2[]

Where did Fireflash 2 appear? It's not mentioned here. --Sigmund 2014 (talk) 23:47, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

It's a puzzling conundrum... What happened to Fireflash 2? It went from 1 (Trapped in the Sky) to 3 and then 4 (Operation Crash Dive). I don't know. It's not mentioned there because it never appeared in the TV series.

I think Fireflash 2 would have replaced Fireflash 1 on the Tokyo-London route. Sigmund 2014 (talk) 22:42, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

TV21 'Contradictions'[]

So it's known that the Fireflash popped up in TV21 from time to time during 2065 before it was supposed to, as Trapped in the Sky makes it clear that the Fireflash in new. Usually this has been just brushed off as a minor continuity problem and largely ignored. However, I think the team behind the magazine were a bit more careful than this and that it's possible for both to co-exist without contradicting each other.

So I present the cover of Issue 8, which introduces the plane as the "Air Terrainean Mach 4 Fireflash" and goes on to say that the plane has been in service for 18 months, which puts its debut sometime late 2063. On just a skim this proves very incompatible with Trapped. However, John introduces the plane as "the new Fireflash Mach 6 atomic airliner" when he picks up the radio transmissions, and indeed the plane travels much faster than just mach 4. Therefore this indicates that the Fireflash design actually dates back much further than Trapped, with the new plane in that episode merely being an improved version. Hence meaning the Fireflashes we see during 2065 are perfectly ok and not out of place at all.
