"Ring of Fire" is a four page Thunderbirds comic strip story, first published in the 1967 Thunderbirds annual. It had no credited writer or artist, a trend that would continue throughout the entirety of the original 60s and 70s annuals.
Plot[]
The Trans U.S. Oil Company's refinery in Houston, Texas finds itself in trouble after a reckless tanker driver accidentally takes his vehicle too quickly around a bend. The resulting explosion quickly ignites the storage tanks, threatening the central tank, where a worker is stuck on top doing repair works. The refinery's own fire chief concedes the can't contain the blaze enough to mount a rescue - but maybe another organisation can.

The story was translated and printed in the Dutch-language Thunderbirds Extra 2 as De Olie Brand (The Oil Fire) in 1967.
Note[]
- The comic has no relation to the novel Ring of Fire by John Theydon. Many years later, the title would again be used for the opening serial of reboot series Thunderbirds Are Go!.
