Project Sentinel is a project involving a giant laser. Originally created by the Hood, the project was later adopted and put into action by the Mechanic.
History[]
Prior To Power Play[]
The Hood commanded the Mechanic to build an enormous laser under the name of Sentinel. Despite starting construction, the Hood decided to abolish the project and dismissed it as being too extreme.
Sourcing The Power[]
The Mechanic hijacks the Grand Sequoia Dam to use the immense power generated by the gushing water to charge batteries for the project. The Hood, disguised as a GDF officer, learns that it's part of his old project. The Hood hacks into one of the Mechanic's mechas and forces him to drop the batteries in order to escape alive. The batteries were later recovered by Kayo.[1]
Completion[]
By the time the Mechanic had attacked Gran Roca Ranch, the laser had already been completed. The Mechanic was still in need of the ranch's processing power to complete other aspects of the project.[2]
In Action[]
The Mechanic uses the laser in an attempt to destroy the Hood. It was able to uncover The Hood and his secret base. The longer it charges, more damage is caused. Brains had thought The Mechanic wouldn't be aboard the Sentinel but it turned out he was. He used a couple of Scorpion Mechas to chase Brains away but MAX blocked them and Brains was able to disable the laser whilst it was charging to full power. This led to its destruction. However, Brains wanted to save The Mechanic, which he did using the space elevator.[3]
