Lieutenant "Phones" Sheridan is Troy Tempest's co-pilot and hydrophone operator onboard the underwater vessel Stingray, alongside Marina.
Personality[]
"Phones" Sheridan - full name George Lee Sheridan - is fairly one dimensional. Fiercely loyal to Captain Tempest and the World Aquanaut Security Patrol, his main interest is still communications technology. He spends much of his off duty time attempting to improve Stingray's electronic systems. Even so, he still occasionally goes out on social occasions with Troy Tempest, Atlanta and Marina.
In the Fireball XL5 60th Anniversary Comic Anthology crossover story, Interplanetary Rescue, Phones and the rest of the Stingray crew helped International Rescue save Captain Scarlet and the crew of Fireball XL5. Phones had also previously encountered the Hood in the crossover story A Trip to England.
Behind the Scenes[]
In the original Stingray series he was voiced by American actor Robert Easton, and for Anderson Entertainment's series of audiobooks released in 2021 and 2022, Wayne Forester would take over the role.
Puppets (marionettes)[]
- As with most important main characters, there were several different puppets (puppet heads) available for him: a "normal" head, a "smiler" and a "blinker".
- Following Stingray, the Phones "blinker" went on to appear in both Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6, albeit with different hair.
