"Lady Penelope Verses the Fox" is a comic story that was published in the 1968 Lady Penelope annual. In a standard affair for stories published in an annual, no writer or artists are credited.

The story draws heavy inspiration from Alias Mr. Hackenbacker - a fashion model is secretly working undercover as a robber and takes off with a technologically advanced fabric that would eventually come to be known as "Pennylon", named after Lady Penelope as she helped to disrupt the getaway.

Plot[]

Lady Penelope holds a private fashion show at the French Riviera on-board FAB 2, for the lead-up to British Fashion Week. On showcase is a very special type of fabric that's as light as paper, yet ten times as durable as ordinary fabrics. Its secret is known only to its inventory Peter Kent - and when the lights at the cut out, both Kent and his model Angela Grant are missing. The thieves threaten to murder their prisoners if they are followed, causing Lady Penelope to declare the scene both industrial sabotage and kidnapping. A single young fox is discovered at the show - the calling card of notorious criminal known only as "The Fox", prolific throughout Europe for their daring robberies in recent months. Unfortunately for the Fox and their gang, Lady Penelope is hot on the trail, yet the Fox's real identity comes as a surprise for everyone.
