Mavis the chimpanzee takes FAB 1 for a spin, in one of the more unusual stories. (Hi Folks... Meet Mavis!)

Lady Penelope's Secret Files[1] was a series of serialised short stories published in the Lady Penelope magazine, from the first issue until the 35th.

The stories documented Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward's solo spy adventures outside of International Rescue, in addition to and alongside her comic series. Part of the series' format was that Lady Penelope's files documented every case she had ever been a part of, no matter how small the part she played was, which allowed the series to tell stories that had very little involvement from Lady Penelope herself.

From a production standpoint, no writers or illustrators were credited in the magazine. Angus P. Allan is known to have written one story, and John Canning is known to have illustrated a handful of them, but further details appear to be lost to time.

After the series has run its course, it was replaced in the magazine by a new prose series exploring Lady Penelope's ancestors, whose portraits hang in the gallery located in Creighton-Ward Mansion.

  1. The overall series was not titled during its run. While referred to in various ways in-magazine, such as Top Secret Dossiers, the ... Secret Files title has become the commonly accepted one for the series in the years since.
