Ian Scoones (February 20th, 1940 - January 20th, 2010) was a special effects director on Thunderbirds season 1. He later worked on season 2 - Path Of Destruction and Atlantic Inferno at least - as a special effects technician and/or uncredited special effects director.
In 1970, he joined the BBC and worked on Monty Python and Doctor Who. He continued to work in the film industry until the mid-1990s, at which point he retired and subsequently lived abroad.
Scoones gave invaluable help with research for the 1993 book 21st Century Visions. He also helped with aspects of Thunderbirds: The Vault's research.
Following a period of ill health, Scoones died on 20 January 2010 at the age of 69. He had been battling liver cancer prior to his death.

- He first worked for Gerry Anderson on Thunderbirds in the 1960s. Scoones later worked for Anderson as a special effects director on the 1980s TV show Terrahawks, however they fell out during production and Scoones was replaced.
