Hiram Blake was an optician who ran his own optician's shop in down-town New York. According to Scott Tracy, he was Brains' favourite eye-specialist, and supplied the inventor with his iconic blue rimmed spectacles.
After telling his assistant Miss Wilshaw she was alright to leave for the day, two goons working for master-criminal the Hood ambushed and killed her. They were after Hiram's optician shop for a plan of their own. As Hiram was locking up his store for the night, he would encounter the goons himself - who would forcefully gain entry to the building and murder Hiram, snarkily saying his shop was "closed forever".
Hiram appeared in the Thunderbirds comic story Brains is Dead. For the story's adaptation in Thunderbirds Versus the Hood, he was voiced by Jon Culshaw.
