Gerry Anderson (April 14th, 1929 - December 26th, 2012) was an English writer, director, editor, and producer of memorable film and television programs for over five decades.
Heralded as a pioneer in the art of television production, Anderson is arguably best known for his range of shows produced in the 1960's involving a ground-breaking technique dubbed "Supermarionation", where puppets are modified to mimic human movements and speech patterns.
He died on the 26th December 2012, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to writing the book's foreword, Anderson provided invaluable assistance on The Complete Book of Thunderbirds.
Archive footage of him being interviewed for the 2007 documentary Stand by for Action! featured in Filmed in Supermarionation. Additionally an interview with Anderson was published in issue 6 of Andersonic.
In Thunderbirds – A Complete Guide to the Classic Series, Anderson was credited under "thanks to". Also, said guide features a 2008 interview with him, which was conducted by Marcus Hearn.
Thunderbirds: The Vault features quotes from Anderson, which taken from interviews conducted by Hearn during the early 2000s.
Supermarionation Cross-sections is dedicated to Gerry Anderson along with a number of other individuals who had involvement with the numerous A.P. Films/Century 21 productions.

- In the mid-1990's Anderson was initially approached to be a part of a soon-to-be produced live-action film based on the series. By the time such a film was released in 2004, any potential offers of involvement had been turned down, including a payment of $750,000 just for attending the premiere.
