- "Just look at that thing. It's like a monster from another planet"
General Peters is a character from Pit of Peril. He is a general in the US Army. He was on board the U.S Army Helicopter that accompanied the Sidewinder during its jungle test.
Overseeing the Sidewinder Trials[]
General Peters, aboard the Copter Watchdog, is happy the test went well of the Army's new Sidewinder vehicle and is about to return to base as disaster strikes, the ground gives way beneath the machine and it falls into a blazing pit.
Rescue Attempt[]
The Sidewinder had stopped in a clearing in the jungle, that in fact a second world war dumping ground for unwanted military equipment. A crust of earth had formed over the top and spontaneous combustion had caused the wreckage in the pit to burn up. The weight of the Sidewinder was too much for the ground and it caved in taking the Sidewinder with it. Sweeney and his crew were trapped 300 feet below ground.
General Peters organize a rescues attempt, but after two men are badly burnt, he calls in International Rescue for help.
International Rescued[]
Scott, Brains and Virgil are soon on the scene and swing into action. The Sidewinder is hauled from the pit by the two Recovery Vehicles, and the crew are saved.

- The puppet that played General Peters was first seen Trapped in the Sky, as a Fireflash passenger. It also appears in Vault Of Death as a Bank of England employee, in The Impostors as an officer attending General Lambert's conference, in Day of Disaster as the Allington Police Officer, in Edge Of Impact as the 1st Policeman, and in The Mighty Atom as the first scientist. It was seen attending Fireflash 4's Briefing in Operation Crash-Dive, and played a patron at the Atalante Restaurant, Paris in The Perils of Penelope.
- A "revamped" version of this puppet also appeared in the Season 2 episodes Ricochet and Give or Take a Million, first as the International Space Control Commander, and then as the Launch Supervisor. As in many other cases, the revamping mainly consisted of reducing the size of the eyebrows and slight hair restyle.
- The same puppet also puts a cameo in at the Space Board meeting in "Thunderbirds Are Go".
