Scott Tracy is a character from the Thunderbirds Are Go! television series. He's the pilot of Thunderbird 1, co-pilot of Thunderbirds 2 and 3, reserve pilot of Thunderbird 4, and former leader of International Rescue (following Jeff's return to active duty). The oldest of Jeff Tracy's five sons followed by Virgil, John, Gordon and Alan - and eldest grandson of Jeff's mother, Grandma Tracy - Scott is also the adoptive brother of Kayo.

Personality & Traits[]

Both on and off the job, Scott is as selfless, brave - and even as humorous - as his siblings. He's highly intelligent and imaginative when it comes to working with what he has, and coming up with ideas swiftly. He's overall friendly to rescue victims, even if they are being difficult - like Marion Van Arkel was in Crosscut, whom he managed to put up with and reason with (he was even kind enough to find her a job!). However, since he's more easily swayed by his emotions, Scott can be more reckless and less friendly where he does get irked: he nearly punched Professor Harold in the face after hearing his total lack of concern for the lives of Gordon, Parker and Penelope - and he probably would have if Virgil wasn't there to restrain him. He's not afraid to doubt his family, occasionally telling Virgil or Alan not to come with him on rescue missions. A notable example: when he was very tempted to press the big red button that stops the train in Runaway like a "brick wall" instead of letting Brains stop it in a more complex and time-consuming, but much safer, way. Scott often knows his limits though, which is why he took Brains along!
Being the most tightly-wound of the Tracy brothers, Scott does not enjoy surprises all that much and is often against putting his siblings in harm's way in unconventional ways (as seen in Undercover), despite his creativity.
Still, though, Scott can joke around during missions like his siblings. But, deep down, he takes his work at International Rescue very seriously - he even claimed in Recharge that it's the only thing that keeps him going, after the heartbreaking disappearance of his father. His dedication to search and rescue is so strong that he's often at odds with Kayo, who believes that apprehending culprits behind disasters is also part of rescuing people - viewing this as strictly being the G.D.F.'s jurisdiction. However, seeing Kayo's effectiveness at putting her beliefs into action, Scott does concede that sometimes rescue requires getting into the so-called 'catching bad guy business' (although he's more than reluctant than any of his brothers to get involved in that).
Being both the oldest Tracy brother and sporting the most tightly-wound personality, Scott often finds himself in a position calling for leadership. When his siblings were having an argument about being unable to save the crew of CIR.R.U.S. in Skyhook, Big Brother was the one who stopped their quarreling - and calmly told them that they must accept their failure.
That's not to say, though, that Scott isn't at odds with himself. Despite his current serious and largely careful attitude on rescues, he's known to his family - especially Virgil and Kayo, who are old enough to remember what he was like as a teenager - to be some sort of a thrill junkie, quick to jump in the face of danger when he was younger. But Scott is not all that proud of that part of his past, and was annoyed of how much Brandon Berrenger - a reckless thrill-seeking teenager he rescued in High Strung - reminded him of his own younger days. Remnants of that past manifest on occasion, with Scott being the one who's the least hesitant among the five brothers to pull off daring and seemingly stupid moves when he has to.
Duties[]
Scott Tracy is primarily Thunderbird 1's scout pilot, which allows him to be International Rescue's First Responder. His role as one of Thunderbird 3's primary co-astronauts also helps Scott with his organisational role (as shown in Falling Skies, Relic, Comet Chasers, Colony, Up from the Depths Part 2 and SOS Part 1). When Scott is required, but Thunderbird 1 is not, he is able to co-pilot Thunderbird 2 (as shown in Chain Of Command, and SOS Part 2). Scott also acts as Thunderbird 4's reserve aquanaut (as shown in Signals Part 1 and Part 2). When required, Scott also acts as the captain of the Zero-XL (as shown in The Long Reach Part 1 and Part 2).
Along with his roles in the Thunderbirds and the Zero-XL, Scott also operates some of the PODs. Scott can operate Thunderbird 1’s Skypod (Chaos Part 2). Using the POD chassis in Thunderbird 2, Scott can operate the Mole Pod (Buried Treasure), the arctic variant of the Pod Explorer (Recharge), and the Submarine Pod (SOS Part 2). Using the Earth Pod chassis in Thunderbird 2, Scott can operate the Dragonfly Pod (Venom). Using the POD chassis in Thunderbird 3, Scott can operate the Rescue Pod (Falling Skies and Comet Chasers) and the space variant of the Pod Explorer (Colony).
Equipment[]
During rescue missions, Scott wears a specialised flight suit that is blue in colour and has a Thunderbird 1 badge on the right shoulder. Along with the flight suit, Scott wears a pair of blue gauntlets both holding remote operation controllers, with the left gauntlet containing a holographic emitter screen. Both of these features allow Scott to control Thunderbird 1 and the remote control drones remotely. Scott also wears blue gloves and a pair of blue boots. Scott’s suit also contains a grey sash containing a trauma kit and spare grapple packs for the grapple gadget kept on his belt. The Jetpack is Scott’s signature exo-suit, a small grey device with Thunderbird 1’s badge on the back, which uses rocket power to give the user the ability to fly. In addition to this jetpack, Scott also has a wingsuit. This is a variation of the jetpack that contains glider webbing, allowing Scott to glide across large windy distances. To protect his head and give him safe air to breath, Scott wears a blue and grey helmet, with an ‘iR’ on the left and a ‘1’ on the right, both in white.
Along with this primary suit, Scott also has a radiation suit that is almost identical to his flight suit, with the exception that it is orange in colour instead of blue. Another exception is that the gauntlets and boots are grey, and the blue of the helmet is replaced with orange.

Primary Suit Up[]
Scott goes to the light brackets to the right of the portraits in the lounge, and pulls them over his shoulders like a harness. This causes the wall to rotate 180° clockwise into a secret compartment containing his flight suit, gauntlets and boots. Scott stands with his back towards the suit, causing the lift to descend. During Scott’s descent, his gauntlets and boots are attached to him by robotic arms with him personally putting on his flight suit, gloves and sash. At the end of the launch tube, the doors open to reveal Thunderbird 1 standing directly in front of him.
Thunderbird 3 Suit Up[]
To launch in Thunderbird 3, Scott sits in the co-pilot seat in the lounge, with Alan in the pilot seat on his left. The two seats lower to the Thunderbird 3 and Thunderbird S launch tube, which Alan and Scott are taken along via a trolley. At the end of this launch tube, the seats are rotated 90° clockwise so that the two are facing the two separate launch tubes at the end of the one they are currently in. The pilot seat is taken into the launch tube on the left, while the co-pilot seat is taken into the launch tube on the right. With Scott now in the co-pilot launch tube, his flight suit, gauntlets and boots are attached to him by robotic arms with him personally putting on his sash, all while the seat is rotated 180° so that he exits the launch tube backwards. Alan and Scott rejoin and exit the launch tube.

Scott has the most rescues than any of the Tracy clan, as his role as leader of International Rescue means that he's usually the first person on the scene and has the situation assessed before he or his brothers begin the rescue.
Crosscut[]
Scott and Virgil are sent out to investigate an open uranium mine to reseal it; however, Scott discovers that someone is inside the mine: Marion Van Arkel. When the main lift is broken by too much weight, Scott and Van Arkel have to find another way out.
Relic[]
Alan flies Scott up to Moonbase Shadow Alpha One to try and convince their dad's old friend, Captain Lee Taylor, to abandon the base due to a large meteor shower heading for that side of the moon. When the Moon base becomes damaged, both Scott and Taylor make their escape.
Comet Chasers[]
When the famous explorer Francois Lemaire and his wife are flying too close to the tail of Halley's Comet - and have their ship 'the Solar Wind' struck by some debris - Scott and Alan have to go and chase down the comet to rescue them.

Trivia[]
- So far, Scott's the only brother not to have an exo-suit of any kind, with the only optional ship-bound attachment usually worn being his jetpack. However, he has a few variations to his uniform - from his gloves being fingerless to fully covered between episodes in season 2, magnetic boots (Touch And Go) a wingsuit (High Strung) and a orange radiation proof version of his main suit (Chain Reaction).
- The variation to his gloves might be a result of an oversight during development, as he is seen with his fingerless gloves in environments where fully covered outfits are absolutely required, e.g. space and extreme cold.
- Scott notably sports dimples - as does his classic series counterpart - but he appears to be the only Tracy brother to have them (a recessive trait), while his siblings do not (a dominant trait).
- According to Grandma and Virgil in Grandma Tourismo, Scott spends a lot of time looking after his hair - hence the reason Grandma tells Virgil to buy Scott hair gel.
- In Firebreak, Scott reveals that he used to be in the Rescue Scouts.
