Ezra Dearing (born William Jones; September 29th, 1905 - March 4th, 2005) was an artist, animator, director, modeller, and potter. He studied at the Royal College of Art. Dearing was interested in replicating Chinese glaze effects and experimented whilst working at Fulham Pottery. He also had an interest in gold, silversmithing, and vases.

He worked for Gerry and Sylvia Anderson for many years, including on Thunderbirds season 1 as a model-maker. Dearing additionally worked for the Andersons on Stingray (1963-64).

Dearing's other work within the film industry includes New Developments in Coal Preparation (1958), Battle of Britain (1969), and Antony and Cleopatra (1972).

He died on 4 March 2005 at the age of 99.

Trivia[]

  • He was in his late 50s when production on Thunderbirds commenced, making him one of the oldest people to have worked on the series.
  • His son Ben took a model of Thunderbird 1 to school to prove that his dad worked on Thunderbirds.
