
Eric Backman c. 1965
Richard "Eric" Backman (born 1940/41) is a retired model-maker who worked in the film industry between the early 1960s and 2000s. He was an uncredited model-maker on Thunderbirds and the 1968 feature film Thunderbird 6.
Backman also worked for Gerry and Sylvia Anderson on Fireball XL5 (1962-63), Stingray (1964-65), Joe 90 (1968-69), The Secret Service (1969), and UFO (1970-71).
Some time later, Backman moved to Australia, where during the 1990s he worked with David Tremont (at the Model Smiths, an Australia-based model-making company) on Space: Above and Beyond and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1997). He also contributed to Street Fighter (1994) and Superman Returns (2006). His last known work in the film industry was on the 2008 film The Ruins.
