Elaine Wickfen is a world-leading fashion designer. She is the owner of fashion house Wickfens, located in London. Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward is one of her best customers, and a close friend.
In Dangerous Fashion!, Elaine is preparing for the first fashion show in Oasis, a new city built in the Middle Eastern desert. Unknowingly, one of her models is Moira Kingsley, a spy working for Bereznik, who is using the fashion show as a guise to smuggle secret plans (stored on microfilm) out of the country. Lady Penelope discovered the plan while on a visit to her fashion house and joined the show as a model, in order to keep an eye on Moira. During the fashion show, Elaine is delighted as new sales are rolling in, but elation quickly turns to despair as an assassin breaks into the dressing rooms and destroys a dress in order to look for the smuggled microfilm.
In The Stately Homes Robberies, Wickfens is visited by Lady Penelope, who is looking for an outfit for the upcoming Russian ambassador's ball. Elaine tailor-makes a gown for the occasion using Cynthia as a model for it.
