"Cliffhanger" is the 16th story published in Redan's Thunderbirds magazine.

A Lady Penelope-centric story, it depicts the mysterious Federal Agents Bureau, the spy organisation Lady Penelope was a senior figure in before leaving to join International Rescue. It's the first depiction of the Bureau - and to date, only - in a Thunderbirds story proper, despite featuring heavily in original 1960s biographical information. Such an inclusion is unusual for the Redan series, which usually shied away from existing lore in favour of smaller, simpler stories.

Synopsis[]

Lady Penelope is called back to do one last job for her old employers, the Federal Agents Bureau, but she might need a little help from her new friends in order to get the job done.

Reprint History[]

Cliffhanger would be reprinted again in issue 89, the very last issue of Redan's magazine, with the same art but a slightly different arrangement of the text.

Trivia[]

  • Continuing artist Lee Sullivan's habit of basing guest characters off of celebrities, the Bureau leader heavily resembles the English singer Bryan Ferry.
