"Antarctic Fury" is an original comic that was published in 1969's Thunderbirds annual. As with all stories in the annual, no writer or artist are credited.
Synopsis[]
Captain Roy Nash of the Antarctic Survey Section bids his wife and son farewell as he prepares to head to the Antarctic region of Beardmore in order to drill a hole in the mountains for a new monorail line. Joining him in his vehicle Ice Panther Two, a gigantic rocket-powered snow drill, is his second-in-command Lt Pete Wilson. The pair make it 100 miles before running into solid granite, which must be blasted away with explosives. However, as the pair leave the vehicle in order to set thier charges, the Ice Panther begins to move forward on its own, causing the men to duck for cover to avoid its blade - which makes contact with the charges and scatters the men down an ice ledge. International Rescue are needed immediately before the men freeze to death, but the men keep insisting that the machine could not have started on its own, and so there must be a third person still trapped in the ice...
